Spring semester (which sadly starts in the dead of winter) is here and SUB is rapidly rolling right along (BAM! Alliteration!) with some great events for all you crazy kids. But there is some other exciting news as well. If you like SUB (you do) and you want to have a part in making all our events happen (you do) then you can apply to be an Executive Board member for the 2012-2013 school year! Applications for the executive board will be available starting February 1st and due March 8th for all new applicants. Pick up an app in the SUB office to start the process.
Thursday February 2 we'll have Jason LeVasseur at Midnight Meals, an acoustic artist named Top Music Performer of the year in 2012, among a bunch of other awards. You all know the deal with Midnight Meals by now right? Well if not, Midnight meals is a free program in Irazu Coffee Shop in Moseley. Starting at 11pm you can sit back and relax with your friends and watch a live performance of Jason LeVasseur and did I mention the FREE FOOD? That's important, there's free food!! Nom Nom.
Friday February 3 is DRUMROLL PLEASE......SUBLive! (like every friday, you should have expected this). For our first SUBLive in February SUB is bringing you comedian Jarrod Harris (pronounced like Jared). We found Jarrod wearing red pants at NACA in Myrtle Beach last semester, and he is hilarious. You can tell he's the real deal because he has a website. And it's http://jarrodharris.com/. You should all go there and watch his funny videos, then come to Irazu at 8:30pm on Friday the 3rd to watch him be funny in person!
Saturday February 4 you all get a DOUBLE EVENT!!! You're bursting with excitement I can tell, because if your a good SUB follower you already know that SUB is revealing the SPRING SHOW ARTIST at the Elon v. Citadel basketball game in alumni gym at 7pm. Tickets are limited, and last year the game sold out in like, 14 seconds or something like that.
Also on Saturday Feb 4 is SUBCinema showing of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn pt 1 at 8pm in McKinnon. For any not-so-on-the-ball twilight fans (much like the guy writing this) this is the first part of the final chapter in the Twilight series. Kind of like Harry Potter did, the last book got split into two movies, and once again Twilight wishes it was as good as Harry Potter.
And last on our list for early February is SUBSwag on Wednesday the 8th. Like every year, our February swag is Stuff-A-Plush, where you can make your own stuffed animal right in the Moseley Center from Noon-3pm. You can make ONE animal per student, and it only costs $5. Last year, we had a huge variety of animals like tigers, brown bears, cats, blue bears, dogs, pink bears, alligators, lighter brown bears, koalas, white bears, giraffes, and lions. We get a lot of bears.
Elon's favorite and coldest trem of the year can't keep SUB from doing what we do best, entertaining you! Here's the schedule for this winter term:
Inspired by a true story, a comedy centered on a 27-year-old guy who learns of his cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen.
Join the office of student activities for a Carolina Hurricanes game! Discount tickets and transportation available through the SUB office in Moseley 207!
